Campus Ministries at Russell Sage & Rensselaer
The Campus Ministry offers Protestant ministry at
Russell Sage College and Rensselaer Polytechnic
Institute. It provides pastoral care, worship and
spiritual formation, recognizing that this is an essential
aspect of a well-rounded and holistic education. The
Rev. Beth Illingworth serves as our Protestant Chaplain
at both Russell Sage and Rensselaer. She may be reached

Computers for Kids/Computer Ministry
The Computers for Kids Program of Troy Area United
Ministries runs an intensive summer program for low
income and at-risk youth. High School students learn
to rebuild and upgrade computer hardware and to install
and run software. At the end of the program, each student
takes home a fully loaded computer that he or she has
rebuilt. Additional computers are donated to programs
serving those in need. To donate computers (Pentium IV

CROP Walk in Rensselaer County
CROP Walk is an international effort for hunger and
disaster relief. Monies support local food programs
and agricultural development around the world.
The CROP Walk is held annually the first Sunday
in May at TAUM.
Damien Center of Troy
The Damien Center of Troy is a hospitality center for
persons infected with and affected by HIV/AIDS.
The center provides meals, social and recreational,
opportunities, peer support, education and referral.

The Furniture Program
The Furniture Program provides good, used,
furniture free of charge to families in need,
including the working poor, women and their
dependent children fleeing domestic violence,
families leaving homeless shelters, persons with
disabilities and the elderly poor. We are in desperate
need of beds (any size), dressers, tables and chairs.

Ecumenical and Interfaith Activities
Ecumenical and Interfaith activities include
peace vigils and services, and community
forums. TAUM also mobilizes congregations
in the work of advocation for justice.
Holiday Adopt-a-Family
Area congregations adopt families in need and
families living with HIV/AIDS, providing food,
clothing and gifts to bring them holiday support.
The Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
Events & Scholarship Program Commiitee
We honor the vision and legacy of Rev. Dr.
Martin Luther King, Jr. through the celebration
of his life and prophetic witness. The Committee
coordinates the holiday activities in January,
special efforts in race relations and community
issues, and provides scholarships for Troy area
high school graduates who are going on to
